From the road of Lavern to the national road 340 through Sant Pau d’Ordal, to the Ronda de Sant Pau, side-by-side with the bridge, one takes the road, in good state, which takes us to the houses of La Guàrdia. Following towards the mountains at about 1000 meters we find the rests of the tower, on top of a Hill of about 385 meters, surroundeb by pine-trees. The square ground plan base is still there, about two meter heigh, letting show some kind of attached-edge-stone plinth with clay, which surrounds the whole construction. In the ruins there is a “geodesic vertex” of recent construction. To the side of it, rests of a dry-stone hut with a circular grund plan which somebody has mistaken as the base of a tower. The squared shape of the work calls for our attention, not so common in this place; even though its origins might be medieval and it might be part of the surveillance system, together with the Can Llopart tower, which alerted the Castell de Subirats, sine the panoramic view is excellent and it dominates a great part of the Penedès depression; we think that the rests, despite the place-name of La Guàrdia (survaillance), belong to a most recent work. On the vestige of the tower we can find traces of modern construction, at leasf dating back to the nineteenth century; it could be possible that it had been crudely remodeled during the “carlinades”. We lack, as we said, documentation. It is part of the property of Can Vendrell de la Codina. One can observe, on the road tha leads there, a well-conserved-circular-groundplan-dry-stone hut.
