The paleontological site of Els Casots was discovered in august 1988 by the Sant Sadurní citizen Antoni Adell at the field owne by the Olivé Batllori family.
The fossile rests found were given tto the Museu de Geologia de Barccelona.
A group of the Institut de Paleontologia M. Crusafont de Sabadell made the excavations, where fossile rest of 18 milion years of age were found. It is a site of the Inferior Miocen (Tertiary Era).
Partially or totally complete skeletons and skulls, corresponding to small animals like amphibians, reptiles (turtles, crocodiles, lizards and snakes), insectivorous animals and mammalians (horses, antelopes, dears, rynocerous, little gnawings, great carnivores and mastodons, ancestors of nowadays elephants), have been found.
